Brake Light Issue -- Soliciting Advice

Hello Friends!

I have a 2009 CR-V 4wd in need a diagnosis. The vertical brake lights on the back, the stoplights, will not illuminate when the brake is applied. Here is what I have tried so far:

  • Bulbs currently installed are OK and come on when the headlights are turned on
  • Replaced Fuse #15 under the dash as it looked fried
  • Replaced the stoplight switch on the brake pedal

I am still getting no illumination. Does anyone have an ideas, please?

Many apologies if there are a million posts out there already on this, I tried a few searches but did not get any finds that seemed useful.

Thanks!!

If you noticed fried fuses there is something along the line that damaged it. Follow that damage back for a short.

Tap the wiring on tail to make sure its getting the signal, then harness to the wiring etc

Did u check if brake switch is getting power?

The lights you mention are NOT the brake lamps. They are the running lights.

Two of those rear bulbs are dual-filament (brighter for brakes). I'd suggest replacing the two lower ones.

Be sure to report back.
