Yeah, I've always hated those clamps and ususally replace with stainless worm gear clamps.

If your pliers don't work as suggested, most auto parts stores (or amazingly some Sears tools sections) will typically have a selection of "hose clamp pliers"; e.g.,

thank you Kevin,

Actually after i posted this, i was looking online and saw the one you suggest it, I think i might need something like this tool. yeah you need like a locking mechanism to hold it open specially when there is little room to move and work.


i will get one of those soon
