Hi , im knew to Honda. I had lost my LX350 lexus 2010,, due to head on collission and car was total loss. SO im now searching for used SUV, within my budget. I m interested in a crv2014 ex awd. But upon reading through carcomplains.com on this model and year of the car , i saw several threads about its sputtering. Can any CRV 2014 owner confirm this, please.. i always have have grandchildren with me and wife with them too. so im concerned. Thank you all!

I bought my 2013 new in August of 2013, which is the same as the 2014, and have never experienced anything like that and it currently has 66k miles on it.

2014 CRV Engine Sputtering???

Would be nice to know the "root cause" of engine sputter (like only when engine cold, only in rain, only when using older age ethanol gas, only when accelerating on a hill, etc. etc.)

My one snowmobile (Yamaha 600) "used to" sometimes have Engine / Acceleration sputter. In the end, I found it was from using lower grade diluted ethanol "lower octane" gasoline. For it, I switched to Tier 1 (aka: Top Tier) certified gas and its sputtering went away. Especially when engine was under load. For more details of Top Tier gasnline, surf: https://www.toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/ And, adding Marine rated Ethanol gas treatment/Stabilizer dramatically eliminated its engine random sputtering behavior as well. re: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00G9TFO9I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

From your historical readings, do share "root cause" of engine sputtering. I'd like to know - for my wife's future 2014 CRV as well.

thanks.

My 2014 with 98880 miles on it is very responsive. in the "economy mode," it is a little sluggish on acceleration, but push the button & it is very quick for its size. Very much better then the 2011 I lost in the flood from Irma in 2017.

I have a 2013 CRV and I haven't necessarily dealt with sputtering. However, I have noticed a few occasions where there is a slight hesitation before acceleration. This is when coming from a complete stop. It always picked up after a couple of seconds. However, I don't necessarily try to cross lanes quickly in a busy intersection if a quick acceleration is necessary because of it happening before. I have had issues with my car shuddering between 20-40 mph and was advised there is an update from Honda I need. It is affecting my transmission. She is at the shop today.

My 2014 ….. in the "economy mode" is a little sluggish on acceleration,....
You might be onto something here... For my other 2 x vehicles, I always use their ECON button OFF (re: NOT enabled). I find these vehicles run better and shift smoother in normal model. And even better in Sport Mode.

Note to self.... Test my wife's 2014 CRV in "ECON = Off" mode off as well....

I instructed my daughter to keep the ECO disengaged. In exchange I fill her tank occasionally to make up for the small hit in fuel economy. The programming curve dulls the vehicles responses to the point of concern.... Given the merges she has to do on the way to work I'd rather she have all the potential the vehicle can give on tap.

I have a 2014 CRV, around 60,000 it started shuttering when accelerated slowly through 35 -42 mph. I took it to the Honda Dealer. They told me that there was a software upgrade that would fix the problem. It did. Till I hit around 75,000 miles then around 18 thru 25 slow acceleration (bumper to bumper traffic it started to do it again. They refused to fix the issue unless I could get it to repeat the problem, of course it wouldn't for them. Took them on a test drive, got it to due it once and they said it didn't. Now I have 110,000 miles and as soon as it gets warmed up the problem is getting worse.. of course the warranty is off and they won't fix it. Last Honda I'll buy. Will trade it in soon on something other then Honda. I run into other people with the same issue.Good luck.

I finally took possession my wife's new 2014 CRV EX-L. Had a nice 7.5 hour drive home with it - in multiple different traffic conditions. NO acceleration "flutter" from STOP at all. Nice and smooth - like a new vehicle. However, I did notice its engine vibrated too much at idle - especially at lower 600 RPM levels. At 700+ RPM levels, no vibrations at all. Me thinks its idle is a little too low (for that specific engine). To be investigated later.

Econ ON or OFF, I didn't dramatically feel difference in shifting or engine behavior difference. For my other vehicle and its ECON button usage, it has a huge behavior change.

Hope this helps...

I just bought a 14 CRV 2 days ago & noticed its sluggish around 30 mph. It has 51,000 on it & I got it from a private owner. I've searched everywhere on how to fix this problem but with no luck. Does anyone have the answer on how to fix this? I went into debt for this car & it drove fine the day I got it. The next day, it keeps getting sluggish at 30mph. Some people said a transmission flush every 30,000 Miles worked & some say it worked for a week. I dont know what to do it's my only car.
