Hi all,

I'm hoping someone might have seen something similar and can offer advice.

Car was fine until Friday 20/01/2023 when I noticed that when I start the car the Honda Sat Nav / Audio start up splash screen was coming on, then would disappear after the splash screen and remain blank for maybe 30-35 seconds after which it loops back to the start screen. I've also noticed that the clock is wrong but there is no way to set it that I can find.

I've attached a picture showing the unit and the splash screen - I have tried disconnecting the battery for 4 hours (as suggested by another local owner) but it still does the same thing on re-connection.

Any help gratefully received.

Have you tried holding the power button until it reboots? Try to do a hard reboot. Remove the 2 terminals from the battery then ONLY the 2 terminals short them together see if this fixes it. I hope this helps. Let us know.
Will try this first thing tomorrow - thank you for the reply

How old is the battery?

Please also complete your profile - no idea whether your car is petrol/diesel/auto/manual/trim level etc?
Have updated profile - thanks - just for quick review CRV Model SE 1.6 Diesel - First Registered 30/03/15

Battery was replaced 16 months ago when having a few issues with the stop/start and the servicing team recommended it be changed as this was indicative of battery degradation.

Looks like you have the SE-T trim judging by the headunit.

These were prone to giving up the ghost sadly.

If it doesnt work after the reboot, its probably done I'm afraid. Still, worth checked all fuses/relays too.

Reply to all really, tried the above this morning (weather and work have delayed it till now) sadly no joy - it looks like I'll have to keep my eye out for a unit to replace it with.

On that note, a few questions if you are able/willing to answer:
  • Would it have to be the same model or is there another that would fit into the slot when the old unit was removed?
  • Is it an easy replacement for a novice when it comes to car maintenance?
  • Is there a recommended source other than eBay for a potential replacement?

Thank you very much for the replies to-date and your attempts to assist in providing a resolution.
Very much appreciated.

Replacement unit of the same type would have to be paired to your car. Dealer only job.

As to your last two points, have a look at AliExpress and YouTube - all of this is dependant on your budget really.

Best of luck!
