Hi,

Nice to meet you all.
I received a CRV model 2000 with 300,000 km ( 186,000 miles ~ )

Last month the "service" indicator light appeared and the CRV started to shut off randomly
the Mechanic told me the catalytic converter is failing ( and i did notice a very "rotten" smell ... )
I replaced the catalytic converter with a universal one. When we replaced it we found out the the rear oxygen sensor was melted. The sensor was replaced with a new one ( universal one )

To make a long story short, the CRV is still shutting off randomly, sometimes i can turn it on again after 2 minutes and sometimes after 15

Can the universal oxygen sensor cause that ?
The Mechanic says it can't but i still can't drive my car...

What else can cause my CRV to shut off randomly ?

It is probably the ignition switch recall or some failing parts inside the distributor (coil/igniter).
