I'm familiar with the usual signs of a bad cv shaft, the clicking sound when taking corners, but I'm wondering if mine needs replacement for a different reason. When going from forward to reverse I get a metallic clicking sound from the drivers wheel. I'm curious if that's a sign of a bad shaft or some other repair that needs to be done. I believe it's the original cv shaft and it has 238k on it. Thanks for any thoughts!

Not knowing (sorry, didn't look at your profile either) what year you have, I'd say easiest way to check is to get under there and grab the shaft to see how loose it is and try to detect where the slack is.
With 238k on it, it may be ready to say "I give".
