What is the CVT 2 position used for with my recently purchased 2015 CR-V? The manual says something about increased acceleration but I'm looking for what to do when going down a looooong mountain slope and hoping I can get some engine braking to slow me down instead of using the brakes. Any advice? By the way, I wish the shift lever was on the dash like the 2005 I traded in. Very little storage area in the front because of all the stuff between the front seats. No little nooks and crannies to put misc. stuff. Other than that, no probs - like the car - like the CVT even though i don't quite understand it yet.

like a regular automatic, that sticks the cvt system into one output ratio so it doesnt move. Pull it up in the owners manual as it is likely for the same reasons regular autos have them, situations like yours.
