There is no real difference. A strut is nothing more than a coil over designed to also act in place of an upper control arm.

Even the best of them at best will last as long as a good strut. Ride quality goes in the toilet though. there are only an elite few (and very pricey) options for quality coil overs. Most are cheap garbage

And 99% of coil overs you can find that fit will lower a CRV further messing up its handling. Unless you take your crv serious offroading or are racing on a track with it, coil overs in the front are beyond a total waste of money.
