2006 2.2 ltr Diesel/ manual shift/ 110,000 miles.

I have recently experienced different rev problems.

On a couple of occasions, when accelerating (moderately) in 5th gear, when the rev counter reached about 3.000 rpm the revs dropped to 2500 for about a second and then picked up again. The momentum meant I did not feel any loss of power. Could this be the turbo kicking in? But I have had the car for 10 years and not noticed this before.

On a different occasion, when accelerating (again moderately) in 3rd gear, the revs suddenly raced from 3,000 to 4,000 rpm. I took my foot off the pedal for a second and this cured the problem.

Any ideas? It might be time to get rid of it but I love the simple functional design of my gen 2 CRV

Bump. Any ideas?

It happened again this morning. Accelerating uphill in 3rd gear, the engine suddenly revved up without delivering any extra power.

If a vehicle with a manual tranny experiences an increase in rpm with no increase in speed, it usually means the clutch is slipping.
