Curious as to the comparison between the displayed MPG and the MPG you calculated (miles traveled/gals used) at fill ups. Displayed better or worse? Which do you have the most "faith" in.

I expect the MPG on the dash display to differ. I suspect, unless there is manufacturer skulduggery, for some to to off high and some low. After one fill up on my car my dash indicator is low. I will know more definitively after more fill ups.

I have done 18 fill-ups so far and found them to be close. Only a couple tenths of a gallon per mile off. Sometime high, sometimes low and sometime exactly the same. Hence I think it is a reliable indication.

I agree, I've got around 3,000 miles on mine and checked the calculations and they were very close every time. I really expected them to be off!

Calculating it yourself is really only valid as an average over several tanks as it isn't possible to fill your tank consistently to the same point every time due to temperature, slope, etc.
