Do you notice that your CRV rolls a little when putting your car in Park? The parking area seems flat, might be a very slight incline but not obvious incline. I know that all cars will normally roll a little when putting your car in park to catch onto the parking pawl but I guess my question is that how much roll is considered abnormal?

Are you taking about an inch or so of roll or a foot? An inch or 2 is normal. Not if its rolling a foot or more. To reduce stress on the tranny, use your parking brake before letting go of the brake peddle after putting it in park.

Heed this warning! If you noticed this enough to ask, you obviously are parking on an incline to the point of stressing the shift mechanism. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

If you use the parking brake, your vehicle will not roll a bit and then bind up on the parking pawl.
