2010 cr-v rear passenger door lock started making a noise like a kids machine gun firing. Door won’t unlock. Anything to do with the door lock actuator recall?

I'm sure it's long past being a valid recall. But, does it sound like a grinding/stripping gear when the door lock is actuated? Then yes, it is the actuator. I've replaced two in our '09 so far.

From what I understand, there is a rubber or plastic "bumper" inside the actuator that wears out or breaks. At first, the actuator will make a "clacking" sound when it locks but once it gets further worn/broken, then whatever mechanism in there goes past that missing "bumper" and causes the grinding noise.

DIY, it's probably $50-ish for the part. They're available from Rock Auto. Takes some door panel tools, a 10mm socket and a true, hardened #2 Phillips-head driver to get out those pesky screws from the side of the door.
