I own a 2001 crv with a starting problem. It's a bit strange as it cranks, has spark and has fuel..The AA guy thought that the problem was the immobilizer..

As i have said before the green key on the dash board does nothing although the owners manual said it should light for a few seconds then go out and flash if there is a problem.

To cut a long short, i tried another ecu today and the green key came on and flashed while i turned the Key...

Any thought please..

Update...The ECU can be made free running which means the immobiliser function is removed so if the key fits the lock it will start.

Not a good idea i think..

Im assuming this isnt a US spec as the 1st gen here didnt have a chipped key.

What part of the world do you reside?
Hi,
Thank you for your reply...Only wish mine didn't have a chipped key then i would just change the ecu and then my problem would be solved.

My location is the sunny UK.
