Hi from Argentina
I'm new in this forum. Owner of 2x 2008 Honda CRV and on 2009 Honda Pilot. Love them!!

The problem I face is this: my dad had his 2008 CRV overheated and unfortunately the block of the engine is damaged.
It's cheaper here to get a new engine than fixing the block. So we were looking online for a replacement.

So, anyone knows if, for instance, a 2010-2012 engine will work on this 2008? It's a 2008 EXL 4x4.
My mechanic has doubts about compatibility at electronics level.
Any wise advise will be gladly welcome. Thanks

Regards

Good advice from your mechanic. ECU compatibility needs to be correct.

I did a quick check on an Honda parts site here in the US, and the engine block for a 2008 CR-V also fits 2007 and 2009 CR-Vs.

The 2010 and 2011 only fit those two years, and the 2012 through 2014 are the same.

So yes, you need a 2007, 2008, or 2009 CR-V engine.

Well, it seems that the solution was more than simple. The first characters of the engine code are the way to verify compatibility. So all I have to check is that the new engine I buy has to be a k24z1.
That's it.
