literally just bought this 07 and on the trip home noticed that the speedo was reading erroneously. on the test drive it seemed to be fine tho any ideas people?? sticks at 40mph and seems to think thats that is zero. i am VERY new to CRVs

First you want to make sure it's not a problem with the speed sensor on the transmission. If you connect an OBD2 scanner you can monitor the vehicle speed. If OBD2 displays the correct speed on the scanner than it's probably the instrument panel.
There are several Youtube vids that show how to remove the instrument panel. There is an electrical connector on the back of the panel. Disconnect and reconnect the connector several times then check if that corrected the issue. Sometimes you can simply have a bad connection.
The last thing is to replace the instrument panel. You can buy a salvaged unit on the internet pretty cheap. The supplier will usually also reprogram the unit so that the odometer reads your current mileage and program the correct id information so that it will work with you vehicle if that is also need on your model.
