I'm looking to get a 2021-22 CRV Touring and intend on being an avid user of Android Auto as my commute will be fairly long. I would appreciate any tips/advice using Android Auto.

How seamless is it?
Any hiccups?
Pros/Cons?
Likes/Dislikes?

Thank you kind people!

I am not sure if this helps, but my wife has a 2019 CRV EXL. We use Android Auto the same as what it sounds like you intend to. When it works, it works great. Navigation is flawless for us, it reads my wife's texts and WhatsApps, we use Pandora for music (or me for comedy) and that works flawlessly as well. I use Pimsleur for foreign languages, but have to control that from the phone. I say "when it works" because we have a problem where it seems to disconnect. Sometimes it reconnects on it's own within a minute, but often we have to unplug the phone and plug it back in. We've gone through multiple cords thinking it's the cord, but it happens again. We've made sure the jack on the phone is cleaned because sometimes you can get dirt and lint in there and it affects the connection. This has happened on our Note 20 Ultras and our prior Note 8s. Occasionally I have just unplugged it and gone old-school Bluetooth. The problem is not constant, but frustrating when it happens. Cons are that it has to be plugged in and that there is not a good place to put the phone. I know the interior has been updated (our daughter has a '20) and perhaps the '21/'22 has is a better spot for the phone. Overall, however, we are very happy with the CRV. Don't let our experience discourage you in any way.

If the Canadian models are same as the US, the phone would lay on the wireless charging pad directly under the USB port, so that’s not a problem.

btw, I’ve started having similar experiences with CarPlay……it’s great, when it works. Multiple phones and multiple mfi certified cables, but for whatever reason it sometimes just doesn’t want to work in my Honda.

I've found it works fine when plugged in and will hold the charge. The phone can get a bit warm but nothing worrisome. If you use a dongle for wireless AA the phone will get very hot and the battery will drain pretty quickly. Ok for local driving but I would keep it plugged on on a long drive.

PS: I wouldn't plug it in and put it on the wireless pad. It is already charging through the port assuming that your phone has wireless charging capabilities.

Thanks EX. Our is a '19, so no wireless pad. Also the USB port is in the center storage bid. One could drop the phone in there but it's my wife's car so naturally it's full of so much junk.
