Hello all,
Well today when I started my 2017 EX with 20k miles the air coming out of the vents smelled fishy. I rolled down the windows and after a few minutes I rolled them back up and the smell was gone. I happened again the nest time I started it. So this is the first time I have smelled anything like this in my CR-V. And no I have been fishing LOL. I did a quick search online and read that the smell could mean coolant is leaking from the heater core. Have any of you folks out there experienced anything like this? I so how long do you think it will take to get it fixed at the dealership?
Thanks in advance for any information you all can share.

Are you sure the Mats did not get wet? Sometimes the Kids will spill something and say nothing.

I replaced the factory mats with Husky liners and I did not notice any wet spots on them. Also I don't have any kids to spill anything in the CR-V. I'll pull the cabin filter tomorrow morning and have a look. I taking the car to the dealer tomorrow afternoon for the state inspection. I'll mention it to them esp since it is still under warranty.

Coolant has a sweet distinctive smell. Never heard it described as fishy.

When the motor is COLD, remove the cap from the white plastic coolant bottle under the hood......take a whiff. Is that the same smell inside the car????

IF something climbed up inside (and died) then this would NOT be covered by warranty, perhaps a good-will service.

Don't forget to peek under the seats, a friend may have left you a tuna fish sandwich.

Fish smell, trying to put my fin on that, what can smell like Cod. or mackeral... all kidding aside:

Where were you parked before and hten when you smelled, were at home at a store etc, when you smelled it, and did you pay attention to the surroundings , or even when you walked to the car, that you did step in or on something...

the air eliment filter on the engine bay look there as well some of hte air will go that route to the car, and also under the mat not on top for any water...

Hi Fishy,
I was parked at home in my drive way, and I did not step in anything. I'm heading out to the Cr-V now to check the filters and make sure there isn't any water under the floor liners
