Anyone have information on recent reported fuel pump problem requiring recall?
My CRV 2019 1.5 t model appears not to be on the Vin list of affected models. (Australian model built in Thailand)
Happy Honda motoring !
A frustrated owner often feels better if they can convince themselves it is not simply a limited production run with defective parts (which is one of the prime drivers of actual recalls and TSBs for new vehicles). They somehow feel better knowing the misery is spread around to others.
This is a common human behavior actually... and not just with motor vehicles.
Honda's recall notice in the Philippines clearly says "select units of"... and goes on to list 8 models of Hondas.
Honda's recall notice in Australia lists the specific vehicle years, models, and actual count of possible defective units in the field by model. So this is clearly some batches of defective fuel pumps (bad impellers) that may be in the field.
Normally, once Honda isolates a part defect, they then recall a range of VINs that were supplied with that particular lot of parts and purge them all from vehicles in the field.
I know a couple of folks with the Hybrid who had them literally as they were available - no issues or any sort of recall letter.
Could this be a mistake? Quite possible. Honda UK has form for it. I recall them sending me a recall letter for my 2011 Accord re ABS sensors needing to be replaced. Took the car in, logged in by the techs and examined - all was fine. It was a mistake from Honda UK - the recall notice was for Accords in Japan but had somehow made it to the UK hence letters issued here too. 🤦♂️
