Recently I was quoted a cost of around $190.00 to perform GDI fuel injection service.
Our CR-V has around 45k mileage. Is this something a do it yourself type person could do?
Has anyone done this dealer service recommendation?
Thanks for any help or input you guys/gals may have.

Complete waste of money - if your MPG is about the same as last year at this time, there is nothing gained by it.
The injectors are direct to the cylinders not the intake so the valves which might have needed cleaning are not even touched.
Unless you have had contaminated fuel, no injector cleaner is going to help. If you do have contamination from fuel, the injectors have to be removed from the engine to be cleaned properly. That costs a lot more than $190.00.

If you use “Top-Tier” gasoline, there’s no reason to clean DI injectors unless there’s a driveability problem. That said, an occasional dose of Techron or equivalent isn’t a bad idea if it’s something that concerns you.

Dealers are notorious for trying to sell unneeded services and this seems to be an example.

As Click and Clack would say, the dealer/writer probably has a boat payment coming up.
