I am looking to replace my existing steering wheel with a better condition one. Does anyone have any advice or guidelines? The only guide i found was for a gen 1 and it seems to be a pain in the butt because it had a coiled up white ribbon connection that can easily bund up if not properly realigned. Not sure if this applies to gen 2

You are talking about the "Clock Spring". Most modern steering wheels have them to connect all the buttons with the car.

Is it just the rim that is looking 'sad'? If so, consider buying a nice steering wheel cover (not a cheap one). I put a Wheelskins cover on my car and it feels and looks great! Soft, supple leather, nice thick padded rim. (About $60 USD)
