I'm new here. Just picked up my 2018 EX-L. Long time Honda owner (02 Civic, 04 CRV, 08 Ridgeline, 13 Civic, 16 Accord, 18 CRV). Obviously we like Honda. In fact my boat has a Honda 90 HP on it and my lawnmower is Honda! Sorry but I sold the Honda and got the Harley! So we just made the move from the 2016 Accord Sport to the CRV EX-L. We didn't need the Ridgeline anymore but needed more than a sedan so we are back to the CRV. Love it so far. Big difference in the ride from the 2016 Accord. Much smoother.

Right now my only questions are about towing capacities? How far can you actually push it?

The trailer weight ratings for the CR-V are more about how much weight you can safely stop, then about how much weight it can move.

So to answer your question, you can't exceed the maximum trailer weight by very much without putting yourself and others at risk.
