Does anyone know if its possible to buy a hard plastic cover for the spare wheel on a '97 registered CRV. The old soft cover has perished and I'd like to replace it with a hard cover if possible? Wheel size is 205/70-R15

Thanks

Hi Racoon
Is the tire size the only governing factor or are there other factors that affect whether the cover fits correctly?

The size of the tire, both diameter and tread width, are the primary concerns.

Next is which "hard" cover you are considering.
The 1st Gen Honda hard cover is a 'hard' cover that covers the rear face of the spare, and the tread. But the side between the spare and the body is vinyl with a zipper that goes most of the way around the tire to remove or install it. I've seen them both with and without the "Honda CR-V" lettering.

And there are aftermarket 'hard' covers that are a plastic or fiberglass disk the size of the tire, and a steel band the width of the tread that 'clamps' around the tire to hold it in place.
There's a latch on the bottom of the band that pulls it tight, and the ones I've seen the latch also has a loop to install a padlock.

Edit: and yes, you'd probably have to have them painted to match your CR-V.
