So my mom likes her 2015 crv but her only complaint is the sound system. So to help her, I am considering replacing the stock speakers for the Kenwood KFC-1666S. They are only 20 dollars per pair and I’m wondering if it will help in any way. I know that for the best results, you need to to also replace the head unit. But I don’t want to do that. So if anyone has replaced just the speakers, how did it work out? Did your sound improve in anyway?

Not an improvement over the stock speakers.
Treat your mom to a decent pair of front speakers...I recommend the JL Audio coaxials...reasonably priced, sounds great and the stock head unit can power them easily.
It's your mom...

The CR-V has separate tweeter pods. It'll be better with components. You need to find high quality low power speakers. Some have minimum input power and don't work at all below that power level.
