So I am working with a dealer who is willing to sell me a CRV EX-L AWD for "invoice" ($28,747.58) + $80 doc fees+ tax ($2162.07) + registration ($310.75). I pointed out that was not invoice and I got oh, there is an HDAG fee of $275.92.

I tried to research this and it seems that is a regional advertising fee for Northern California. Is it negotiable? I live about equidistant from 4 dealers (all several hours) but only one in-state (hence easier on the dmv interaction)... Trying to assess how hard to push....

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try the Edmunds "Prices paid .." forum where users have posted regionally paid prices and often also include dealer name

Look also at Truecar.com

Info

I had already used Edmunds-- TMV $28,822.

I had not checked Truecar-- but that is listed at $28,761.

So I guess I am below both....good perspective even though I hate "hidden" charges.

What invoice ? Any dealer is not going to show you his COST INVOICE. As for documentary fee, that's just price gouging. Find another dealer that will shoot straight with you. Paying MSRP for any car is too much. JMHO, good luck.
