Neighbor gave us a great deal on their 2005 CRV that they were going to trade in. Regular maintenance and only 112K miles. Going to let our son's girlfriend / future fiancé officially title it. In the process of bringing it back into spec before letting her reimburse us for it. One thing that is really bad on it is the foggy headlights. There are so many new products popping up everyday but I'm looking for one that is really good and hopefully will hold up long term. If you're successfully restored your headlights recently I'd be interested in knowing what you used. Would like it to have UV protection too but I do have a couple of 3M UV wipes I can fall back on if your product didn't include that. Looking forward to your responses, hopefully we can get everything finished up and she'll get her 1st car by this Friday! Thanks, Randy

3M Headlight Renewal

So for those of you who were curious about the headlight restoration kits they do seem to in fact work. I had never used one before or seen one used so i was unsure if it would. I always thought the yellow tint was on the inside of the headlight housing from humidity and dirt build-up...

It is not a problem, Do take some time to look at the two topics. remember the kits at the auto stores are pretty good, just make sure you finish them with sealer.

My step dad had an 05 his headlights were milky yellow
We were down there on vacation a few years ago and i ordered this on prime and did his lights

The key to polishing headlamps is to apply a UV paint coating (not just a 'wipe') after you polish 'em up. I linked a How To video from ChrisFix on those other Topics.

I use the Sylvania headlight restoration because this kit comes with UV blocker clear coat.

I found a couple of reviews that rated the Sylvania Headlight Restoration kit as #1 with 3M coming in 2nd. Went with the Sylvania because of the UV final coat which is supposed to last longer. Headlights look good as new. However, a lot more elbow grease involved. Wash & dry headlights, spray with some conditioner, use sandpapers 400, rinse, then 1000, rinse, then 2000, rinse (no drill option for sanding), spray with condition, then use a polishing paste, rinse & dry then apply the UV protectant. Got a great result but a drill option would have sure made it a LOT easier. Had a lot of moisture in one headlight so I pulled the front end off as well as the lights to find the leak and fix that and some broken plastic fins before reassembly. Nothing like having a few 3/4" screws left over which I hope someone can identify in this and my next post. lol
