'05 CRV. The light that illuminates the right dial control for the heater is out. How do I access the bulb to replace it?

If still under warranty, let the dealer do it unless you enjoy the challenge. Here are a couple of illustrations that may help, courtesy of San Leandro Honda - slhondaparts.com

Heater control bulb

Hi,
I have a 2002 crv a/t. The light behind the heater control knob is out and I cannot figure out how to disassembe the heater control panel cover. I tried to take apart the center panel storage compartment but I couldn't get that out. Not sure if it requires removing the center storage box anyway. I took out the regular glove box and got to one screw on that side along with the push in retainers on each side of the center storage box. I cannot find an online diagram that shows all of the screws that must come out. How do I remove the heater controls to get to the bulb? Thanks.

You don't need to remove the glove box, one of the members on here "lizzurd" should have a parts diagram, but basically, you have to remove that one screw in the back of the cubby, then set the screw aside. Take a phillips screwdriver and feel around underneath the radio trim for 2 screws, remove those then pull horizontally on the radio trim straight towards you and it will come out, remove the wire for the hazard control switch, by pushing in on the clip, and pulling

Now, flip the door on the cubby down, grab it, and pull towards you while gently wiggling it, it will come free, then look on top of the heater control knobs, you'll see some phillips screws, remove them, and your controls will come free.

Hi there,

I just came accross this great forum and have searched for my particular need but don't seem to find any postings on this topic.

The lights on the fan and temperature knobs on my 2005 CR-V have died-out and I would like to know how to replace them. I found that I can get to the bulb by taking out the external ring (used to turn up and down the fan and temp) and then taking out the larger semi-circular part (the part that actually lights up with this bulb), by simply using a flat screwdriver. I can see the front of the bulb but there does not seem to be an easy way to remove it. I tried to gently tug on it but it does not come out. Do I have to dissasemble part of the panel to get to the back of these knobs in order to remove the bulb or can this be somehow done from the front?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Discharge the static electricity (which accumulated on you when you removed the heater control panel) by touching the door striker or other body parts.

Remove the self-tapping screws, then carefully separate the heater control panel display (A) from the control panel (B). Do not kink or pull on the wires between the display and the control panel. Do not touch the electronic components on the printed circuit board in the control panel.

Remove the bulb(s) with a flat-tip screwdriver.

Install the bulb(s) in the reverse order of removal

Thank you very much for your reply tkcr. Unfortunately I never got to the part of removing the heater control panel. I only removed the front knob covers.

How do I get to remove the heater control panel? I don't see any clearly visible screws to do this.

Thanks.

Pull out the dashboard pocket (A) to release the clips (B, C) and hooks (D), then remove it.

Install the pocket in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Replace any damaged clips.

Push the clips into place securely.

Pull the parking brake lever.

Remove the screws (A), and pull out the heater control panel (B) to release the clips (C). Disconnect the heater control unit connector (D), then remove the heater control panel.

Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Make sure the heater control unit connector is plugged in properly.

Replace any damaged clips.

Push the clips into place securely.
