Wow...it was easier than I thought. I printed out the detailed instructions and took on the task with all my tools and flashlights handy. Took about an hour. :)

Heater A/C Control Bulbs, Continued

Don and others who have successfully replaced these bulbs:

'02 EX - How do you get the dashboard pocket out without tearing the door off in the process? I have removed the three screws as described in the main post on how to do this job but cannot budge the dashboard pocket at all. It's loose but not coming out the way I have tried. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had the same concern. Give it a good yank with one hand, and keep your fingers crossed with the other hand. :) I figured the clips would give before the dashboard pocket hinge. I was right.

Voltage - 12V vs 14V

Hi,

I am going to attempt to replace my heater and dash control lights to LED from www.superbrightleds.com

When I look at the Honda parts diagram it lists the bulbs (large and small) as BULB, NEO-WEDGE (14V 100MA) and BULB, NEO-WEDGE (14V 60MA) respectively. The www.superbrightleds.com only shows 12V NEO-Wedge options.

My questions are (I have a 2004 CR-V EX):
1) Will the 12V LED still work?
2) Which versions from their website do I need (for dash and heater control)? -
NeoWedge series LED Lamp
B8 series LED Twist Lock Lamp
BAX series LED Twist Lock Lamp
B10D series LED Twist Lock Lamp
T1.5 series LED Twist Lock Lamp

I'm sure your answers may raise additional questions. Thank you in advance.

Side note question -
I used to have and Element but sold to buy CR-V. Is there any webite/forum link etc when I can swap my Element service manual for a CR-V service manual?

One of the backlight bulbs on the heater control panel on my 2006 just went out. Found this useful thread, which says its applicable to 2002-2005. Anything different for a 2006?

Fuse or Bulbs or Unit

The three white upper bulbs in the control knobs were out when I purchased my 2006 CRV last year. The three lower grey bulbs still work. I replaced the three white bulbs and they still do not work. I don't think a fuse controls the upper bulbs and not the lower. Is this a known problem? Maybe I should just purchase a used control unit?

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, I was able to recently change out one of my bulbs in ~30 minutes with no problems. I would've changed them all while I had the unit out except for the $9 per bulb cost from the dealer. It also gave me the chance to re-install the hazard bulb, which had worked loose.

Air Conditioning Selector Ring Bulb Replacement

I have searched all over and cannot find the details on this.

The selector ring bulb is burned out and I can't find a replacement based upon the searches I've done.
Has anyone had direct experience with this?

Thank-you,

Ian

My heater control light wasn't working and i tapped the knob with my finger nail and it has started working no issues seen.loose connection
Ya know, my previous posts on this thread were for my 2002 CR-V LX. I upgraded to a 2006 CR-V SE in August.

Wouldn't you know it, my fan dial bulb blew yesterday. Or so I thought until I tried the iceman1001 technique of tapping on the knob. It must have happened when I had my OEM fog lights, Autodim mirror and HomeLink accessories installed by CarToys.

Thanks iceman1001, you saved me some time/effort. I wish I knew this back when I fixed the 2002. ;)

I am new to board. Online search on the subject got me to your post. I wanted to thank you for the detailed and informative post. I actually ordered both Cool White and Amber LED sets to test on the car. I like how the Amber LED looks on the left and right knobs, because it matches so well with the color of the instrument cluster. For the middle knob though red and blue temperature controls looked very dim with the Amber LED. I installed the Cool White LED for the middle knob; it looks a bit too bright but better than how dim the knob looked with the Amber LED. Thanks again.
