Hi,
I sound dampened my EXL with matting, and this caused the back hatch to get heavier. It’s a little more of an effort to open. But, more of an issue is that it comes down on its own more so. Especially in cold weather and if it’s wet.
Are there heavier struts available to help with this?

If you look up the extended and retracted lengths, then get the weight carrying ability and increase the weight bearing ability you should be able to solve your problem.
