anyone have a 98 jdm crv gen 1 manual? I found a company that has the ecu for sale, but I want to make sure it's the right one. I need the ecu code off the side to make sure it's right. Can anyone help me?

thanks for the post. No the code isnt there, I need the ecu "id number" basically, so I dont get the wrong thing. Like P72, or P28, like that. It's rare and I wish I could find someone oversea's with a manual gen 1 crv so I could have them check theirs out for me.

What is the difference between one for a US CRV and one from Japan?

Have you tried contacting these guys?

nope, I havent called them. The main difference is that there is no crank sensor. I did the bypass, but on the highway it might need to see a differerent voltage at 80+ mph, because I throw a misfire code, but only on the highway at higher speed.

I found this:

88-91 ECUs (PM6, PR4, PW0, PR3, PM7):
5spd = 000, 001, 002, A00, A01, A10, J00, J001, C01, C00
Auto = J51, J50, A50, A51, 901, A60, C50, C51, X30, A80

92-5 ECUs (P28, P30, P61, P72, P91, P08)
5spd = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A02, C00, C01, C02, J00, J01, J02
Auto = J50, J51, 901, 902, C50, C51, C52, A50, A51, A52

96-00 ECUs (P2E, P2P, P2J, P72)
5spd = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A03, C00, C01, C02, C03, J00, J01, J02, A11, C11
Auto = A70, A71, A72, A91, A92, C70, C71, C72, C91, C92

From the patterns we can learn the following:
-First letter = country of orgin
J = Japan
C= Canada
A=USA

-Second digit, if 5, 7, 9 then ecu is auto usually

-Third digit denotes the version/variation

I don't know if that contains any of the info you wanted, but I'm guessing the one you're looking for DOES NOT have a 5,7, or a 9 in the second digit, since you say it's a manual, and the letter in the beginning should be "J" which looks like J00, J01, or J02. SO I'm guessing it's the P2J or something? I don't know. You may understand this list better than I do, and it's the only thing I could find on Honda ECU's.

if I do a jumper harness, I wont go half assed, and I will do a full p28 with hondata tuneing again. The point of the right ecu is for emissions, but I can always keep the old ecu just for that.

BTW I think I found the ecu code, still double checking though

37820 - P3F - G01

this was in a uk car. If it is the same as the jdm manual with no crank sensor, then thats it.

JDM ECU should be a P8R Just like the cylinder head. I actually have seen these in the importers ecu bins, but have not found a 5speed yet.

nope, not yet, thats why I'm looking for the ecu. I just wanted to make sure that I was looking for the RIGHT one before I purchaced something.
