I went to a Honda dealer to check out a 2017 CR-V 2WD EX, but ended up taking a AWD EX-L with navigation for a test drive. Now I'm wondering if I should scrap my plans for the EX and go with the EX-L. The dealer claims he can give me a good price on the car, but hasn't committed or hinted at what the price would be.

EX-L Pros
  • As a lifelong sedan driver I liked the CR-V a lot more than I expected.
  • Dealer has it stock.
  • Built-in navigation.
  • Leather interior.
  • The EX-L also comes with an auto-dimming mirror, power tailgate, driver seat position memory, powered passenger seat, and upgraded audio.
EX-L Cons
  • Much more than I was planning on spending. The MSRP is $4,800 more than EX I originally considered.
  • Don't really need navigation since I can use Android Auto.
  • Leather isn't a must have feature for me.
  • Even without navigation the extra EX-L features don't seem like they are worth the $2,500 step up in the base price.
My Questions
  • Is AWD really needed if I spend little time off-road and will have a set winter wheels?
  • Are the leather seats an upgrade from the cloth seats?
  • Is the built-in navigation better than Google Maps on Android Auto?
  • Will I miss the extra speakers (2 tweeters in the second row I think)?
  • Should I just go to another dealer and test the 2WD EX?
  • Is there anything I'm overlooking?
Thanks, and kind regards.
