That corrugated piping is going to make the air flow not so smooth, either way, why didn't you just make a snorkel, or a snorkel box that way you can mud bog all day.

Then you wouldn't have to take it off. - or make a box that allows for a dump of the water, and then insert another filter into the box that attaches to the actual intake, and use your flex tube to go down to the bottom of the car, so it still sucks air off the bottom, but the water can drain out the bottom of the box. Just a thought. Also, I don't know that wire is a viable way to keep the filter on, that thing's going to fall off it knocks the side of the wheel well.

Weren't you afraid of said hydrolock? Is this a step in overcoming the fear?:D

Ok, so I can't find the gutter one online, but I've seen it in person, and my brother did it to his old Wrangler - but the main idea of getting it out to the snorkel remains the same - which looks like the Spectre flex tubing like you have:

I don't know, maybe the PVC is easier to do, and I notice a lot of people who have the black ABS piping for it, so I assume that works.

I like the snorkel idea a lot. But my only worry is cutting a hole in the fender. In a crash the front of the V "folds" up fairly nicely and it may lessen some of the rigidity of the right side. The occupants in the V should be safe but it may add more damage to the V.

I have been looking for a snorel kit for the gen 1 for a while but I haven't seen one at all. I have though of the Rain gutter but I would think it would be a bit too flimsy (I never decided to tost the strength of them:D) But I guess if it worked before it will still work now:)

I thought of using PVC pipe and making some what of a cover that would go around a cold air intake. Although it may look to big and bulky.
As for cutting a big hole in the fender, I'm going to say that is a bad idea, but you could make the snorkel come out of say, the bottom of the fender and travel up the roofline, or come from on top of the wiper shelf and go right a little, and then up to the roof, or even just use a hood scoop as a snorkel and only go up as high as the hood, and cut a hole in the hood.
