Hi,
I bought a used Honda CRV 2008 RE three days ago and today the enging light warning is on. The code is P0420.
Could you please advise if I need to get the catalytic converte or Oxygen Sensor replaced or can be the other possible reasons?

First make sure that the engine is running OK. (If you feel even slight misfires/roughness during warm-up or at idle, suspect something is amiss)

Another thing you can do (especially if you can DIY) is a valve lash adjustment. Also, check or replace the spark plugs. Make sure they are the proper Iridium variety.

Post back with your results...also with the miles/KM and your location, as the equipment varies by market.

If the P0420 persists and the mileage is high, first try a new Denso oxygen sensor...but after that you might need to replace the converter. (Sounds as if the seller erased the codes on you, and they came back.) :Darn:

BTW, WELCOME!
