Trying to remind us that it’s not all about family sedans, Earth Dreams, Magic Seats and crossovers, Honda has pulled the wraps off its wild Project 2&4 Concept, an open-air vehicle that combines a motorcycle with a car.

The Project 2&4 Concept made its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and it has a car chassis but is powered by a 999-cc V4 engine lifted from a superbike that revs to 14,000 rpm. Take a second to take in how epic that is.

That engine pumps out 215 hp and 87 lb-ft of torque and power makes it to the ground via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The engine is mounted mid-ship, which helps give the concept a low center of gravity and fantastic responsiveness.

As Honda’s answer to something like the KTM X-Bow, the car has a floating seat and doesn’t have a cabin or windshield. More importantly, it weighs just 893 pounds, so chances are this thing will drive like a go-kart on steroids. It’s only 120 inches long, 72 wide and 39 high.

This concept is the result of an annual global Honda contest that encourages its design teams to go wild.

There’s very little chance that this concept will ever make it to production, but that doesn’t stop us from really, really wanting one.
