I scratched up the painted part of the mirror shell and have purchased a replacement. What I can't figure out is how to get the mirror glass off so I can get to the latches for the housing... The Gen4 apparently tilted the mirror enough to get a screwdriver in there to pop the glass out, but no such luck for the Gen5. If I didn't care about the glass, I'm guessing it would be pretty easy, but obviously I'd like to not break it. I can find videos on how to remove the whole mirror assembly from the door, but that's not helpful for disassembly.

You have to remove the glass then push the prongs down to release the cap from the mirror.

tons of civic videos on how to replace them which is the same thing

tape up the frame then you rock the glass back n forth and it will pop out.
Becareful one because its glass. There are two fragile prongs and two wires to the heating mechanism
