I bought these MaxLiners for my 2018 and I'm not happy with them. As you can see, the front passenger side mat bulges away from the side of the footwell and I can't reposition it to smooth it out. The rest of the mats are OK but thin and not really luxurious feeling. View attachment 110225 View attachment 110233
My Maxliners fit perfectly. They cover a little better than Weathertechs or Husky. They are a bit thinner but that is fine for me since my prvious vehicles were always sold or traded in before any of these mats ever went past their lifetime. I saved some cash over the other brands and I like their looks and the way they fit.

Does anyone know the details on how the Maxliner cargo tray for the "Upper Position" doesn't fit in '17/'18 Touring models?

If I filled in the cargo pockets on either side would that tray be usable with a Touring model? I put soaking wet scuba gear in the back of my car and don't really like water dripping over the sides into those two lower cargo pockets anyhow.

Nope wouldn’t be usable since it extends down into the sides since it’s in the upper position. The subwoofer is in the right side and extends out a bit so that’s why this tray wouldn’t work in CR-Vs with a sub.

Wouldn’t work. If you look at the picture of the tray you’ll see that the wings actually dip down and into the lower part. It’s molded so it only works if the cargo floor is in the upper position.

Yes, I understand it's for the upper position and I want that. What I'm trying to figure out is if placed in a touring with the deck in the upper position would (1) the rubber need to be cut or would (2) I just need to put something under the mat in the wings to raise them to the correct height?

The sides of the tray are molded to fit exactly into the dip on either side. If you place something under them then the tray wouldn’t be sitting flat and any liquids would possibly spill out. Do you currently have a CR-V because I think you’re getting confused with the configuration.

Yes, I have an '18 CR-V Touring. When I put the cargo deck in the upper position I have approximately 3" deep wing pockets on each side. All I'm asking is if I cut some plywood or some material of an appropriate height and size to fill those wing pockets (this material would go underneath the wings of the mat until the mat rests on that material I added) would the mat fit without having to cut any of the rubber out of the mat?

Basically, is the reason the mat won't fit inside a Touring just because of the empty space underneath those wings? I'm willing to make something to build up plug those wing holes if that's all it would take.

The picture shows that the sides of the cargo liner molds down and into the pockets so that’s why it’s only for the upper position. The cargo liner EXACTLY fits the cargo area. If you place something under the sides you will actually cause the sides to fold up. The reason the mat won’t fit is because of the woofer. The woofer extends out so the one side won’t fit properly.

The pocket on the right turns out to be larger in non-touring models (or ones without subwoofer). So the answer was "(1) the rubber would need to be cut if placed in a touring".

Models where mat fits:
Vehicle door Automotive exterior Floor Auto part Rim

My Touring:
Leather Car Vehicle

The pocket is about 3" wider on the mat and models which fit it.

What Hankman said.

And news.honda.com had this:

In Touring models, the 7-Inch Display Audio Touchscreen system output is increased to 330 watts and the speaker count is increased from eight to nine with the addition of an 8-inch subwoofer positioned in the right side of the cargo area.

And it looks like the Weathertech cargo liner may fit, although it's a bit vague, with a comment about trimming it. o_O

I found message #215 interesting. I purchased Husky because I think they're slightly thinner and more flexible than WeatherTech.
I have WeatherTech in my Civic and my wife really prefers the Husky over WT. Coverage/protection is equivalent.
Husky has the sharp little nibs on the bottom to reduce movement. Either brand should outlast the life of the vehicle under most circumstances.

RE the cargo tray in Touring: Husky and WT have straight sides (no wings) so the subwoofer is a non-issue.
If you wanted to protect those side areas you would have to rig up some kind of material to raise that area and drain into the tray.

Husky (...) Their X-Act Contour series is AWESOME. They're actually rubber and still 100% custom fit for vehicles. Shocking that they haven't made them for the CR-V since it's the most sold small SUV...
I never saw this directly addressed, but the X-Act Contour is available for the CRV now.
Still can't post links yet, so... www (dot) huskyliners.com/X-act-Contour-Floor-Mats/2017/honda/cr-v

Note in the pictures, the front mats have holes for the floor attachments, but in the slide show above it shows a front mat with no holes, but a relief molded in the mat for the attachments.
One of my pet peeves about WT , although I've seen one off brand that also have reliefs molded in for the floor posts instead of holes that could leak spills.

I think the slideshow is generic. It's the same thing on the F150 page.
