I have a 1999 CRV, ignition switch was changed out by Honda about 10 years ago when they issued the recall. Recently the vehicle began shutting itself off randomly and refusing to start. Also when they key is turned all of the way to the ON position sometimes the dash lights come on normally, sometimes nothing happens. So I purchased a new ignition switch from Rock Auto and installed, dash lights suddenly would not turn on at all, it would turn over but not start. So I reinstalled the old ignition switch and I'm back to square one. So I suppose my question is did I simply get a faulty ignition switch from Rock Auto? Would the ignition switch cause the issue with the vehicle not responding when the key is in the ON position? Or is perhaps my entire ignition apparatus faulty? I know that these particular cars are notorious for ignition issues, just wanted a second opinion before I replace the entire ignition system.

Thanks!
