Hi Folks,

I have a 2008 2.2 diesel CTDI, and i can hear a whine/whirring noise when i accelerate.

I think that it is more noticeable when the engine is at working temperature.

I have been told that it may be the turbo

Anyone any ideas ?

Thanks John.

There are lots of things turning under the bonnet. A few questions:
How long (time/miles) have you owned the car? Any deferred maintenance? Check fluid levels and condition, engine oil, transmission, power steering, coolant, battery. Top up or replace with correct spec fluid as necessary. Do you have a mechanics stethoscope?

You 'might' get more responses if you post in the Diesel section of these forums.
Have you checked your battery voltage and your battery connections?
A low battery can cause the alternator to while while it is charging.

Apologies for not posting in correct section, (Pretty new on this forum)

Gotthe battery tested, apparently it is a bit "low" and the diagnostics was showing 3 faults due to this.

So it could possibly be the alternator at fault ?

If a new battery was installed, would this eleviate the whirring noise, Is there any way thati can cactually test the alternator ?

Thanks
