Here is an article, published today (10/31), by Cars.com.
https://www.cars.com/articles/honda-cr-v-fuel-oil-defect-fix-coming-late-1420703403599/

In several other threads, multiple posters have attempted to dismiss the news Honda spokespeople have released to Consumer Reports.
They say it could be wrong, misquoted, made up, ect. The only real news is an "official statement from Honda."

So for those who defend Honda at all costs, and deny/dismiss anything related to the CRV engine issue, how will you spin this news?

The article states...
- The free update will "address potential for abnormal engine oil dilution arising out of consistent short-trip driving at extreme cold temperatures," Honda said in an emailed statement to Cars.com.
- Vehicles in states with warmer temperatures and vehicles that travel longer distances regularly should not be experiencing abnormal oil dilution," Honda spokesman Chris Martin told Cars.com in an email.
- Such updates "will allow the engine to warm up faster, improving fuel combustion and reducing the potential for abnormal oil dilution," Honda said.

Is this quoted emailed statement from a named official Honda spokesperson to a media outlet not "official" enough?
