Since I have to replace some tail lights, I'm really considering LED's.
This would cut down on removing the tail light assembly.
How long do LED lights last?
Are they worth double the cost of standard lights?
I find lights bought at auto part stores, don't seem to last as long as
lights that came with the car.

You have to be careful when installing LED lamps into cars that didn't originally come with them. Sometimes the low resistance of the LEDs doesn't 'play nice' with the electronics in the car. Often, the car 'expects' a certain resistance. Google 'hyper-flashing of the turn signals', as one thing that can go wrong.

It might be worthwhile to call a known vendor (site sponsor Diode Dynamics, or SuperBrightLEDs) to discuss your proposed application before purchase.

As a rule, LEDs will last MUCH longer than incandescents or halogens, IF you don't get a defective one. (You are most likely to have an issue on dual-brightness or dimming type circuits).

Good luck and do your research!

You seem busy today--lot's of lurkers here but no answers.

I don't have time to research today as I have a light out
and do not want to get stopped by the Fuzz.

I think I'll just go and buy a complete set of bulbs for the entire rear
and do my install and brag to myself about how handy I am.

Thanks for the response.

All done--new lights everywhere on the car.

Sparkly and Shiny.

The guy at Advance Auto Parts outfitted me with
3 wrong sets of bulbs.

Took the old ones out--since I had the tailight off
and get an exact match.
He didn't believe the car was from GB and had to go look
at the doorjam to convince himself.

New lights make a CR-V look good.

Many Thanks to Carbuff2 for his help.
