When I shift to Park with my window opened, sometimes I will hear a loud “tuck” noise coming from the engine compartment. Is this normal? Can someone please try and see if your CRV make this noise also?

Remember to keep the windows opened. If you can’t hear it, try to move the car a little bit and try again.

Thanks in advanced 🙏

Never INTO Park (unless my foot was not firmly on the brake pedal or the car wasn't completely stopped), but I find that if the trans was shifted into Park under a load (your CRV was pushed firmly against a curbstop, or on a steep hill, or?), it will make a noticeable clunk when shifted out of Park. I always make it a point to not park my CRV firmly against anything.

One easy(ish) thing to do would be to check the fluid level in the CVT.

Always, always, always use your Parking brake!!!

Neutral, park brake on, let foot off brake then put it in park, the park pawl was never designed to hold the whole weight of the car.
Kind of defeats the purpose of the auto parking brake feature which engages the brake when you put the car in park and disengages when you out in D or R and apply pressure to the accelerator. As long as you keep your foot on the brake before shifting into Park you accomplish the same thing.

Thanks for all the replies. I tested 2 more CRV with the same model as mine. I can reproduce the noise.

Just to be clear, the noise can only be heard when windows are opened. Test it at a quiet place. In the video, I am referring to the “tak” noise when I shift the gear to Park. The noise come from under the hood, not from the cabin.

Can someone help to test to see if your can also have the same noise. Thanks in advanced.

The sound seems like it is echoing as though you're in a garage with the door shut?

In the video, I was doing it at outdoor.

Hmm… it sounds like “tak” / “tuck” when I shift the gear into Park. The sound come from under the hood. I am not referring to the “kruk kruk” sound from the gear stick.

It's most likely one of two possibilities, the reverse clutch disengaging or the parking pawl setting. If it's the reverse clutch you should also hear it shifting from reverse to neutral. However you mentioned "If you can’t hear it, try to move the car a little bit and try again." this would suggest it's the parking pawl engaging between the teeth or on a tooth. One or the conditions generates more noise than the other. A parking pawl is a pretty crude safety device to keep your car from rolling away, as you can see. If you have a concern take it to the dealer. They can plug in a scanner and operate the parking pawl solenoid manually to see if that is where the noise is coming from.
