When I push my horn on my 97 honda cr-v, I get a quick short burst of sound, but it cuts off quickly, no matter how long I press for.

Horns have been known to fail. But first check the plug to the horn to ensure a good connection. If the problem is repeatable with every push on the wheel I'd say the inside wiring and button are ok. But you can test for sure by using jumper wire to power the horn directly to the battery (cover your ears!) If the horn tests good, check the relay.

Run a jumper wire w/alligator clips from the HORN BODY directly to the NEGATIVE POST of the battery, I think your loosing ground when your horn blows then quits.JMHO
