You can only make the tranny 2wd if you also make it an automatic. The manual was only 4wd. Normally I see people looking for the opposite conversion, actually. Because 2wd CR-Vs are so popular, people buy them hoping to make them 4wd.
That being said, it hurts nothing to leave the transfer case on there. I think the fuel economy between the fully assembled and operational 4wd, and and the fwd, was like 1mpg city, identical hwy.
