I have a 97 crv that I bought it has that Japanese engine so I'm told check engine light for crankshaft sensor straight fwd pull timing cover replace but there's is not one there the older engine there is car was running fine until I cleaned the light.now the car only runs with my obd11 scanner where is this crankshaft sensor located please help

it only runs with the scanner?usually on the 97 if it has no spark replacing the distributor is the fix but it has to be diagnosed before throwing parts at it ,check power on the wires in the flow chart below, heres some info below also the pgm-fi relay is common on the 97,also make sure its not a security key problem (flashing green key while cranking)the speed fluctuation sensor shouldn't cause a no start
