New 2019 CR-V - CarPlay issues

Hello. I’m brand new to the Honda family! Just got a 2019 Honda CR-V EX. I love it so far! However, I’m having a few annoyances with CarPlay. Let me break down my two annoyances.

1- Album art. I know that the lack of album art with all music apps is an Apple issue, but I’ve used some CarPlay decks that allow you to move freely back and forth from the CarPlay interface to the stock audio interface so at least you can get album art, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with this stereo model. Does anyone here know how I can get album art while in CarPlay using the Music app? I was even hoping for a screensaver of sorts to display art, but nothing. So frustrating, especially when the artist and album title are longer than the screen and all you can look at is the name with three dots (...) in between them.

2- Ringer volume. Holy hell does the incoming ringer volume almost make me crash every time my phone rings. I’ve tried everything (even reducing the ringer volume in the iPhone settings) but no resolution. I also tried to remove the iPhone from the stereo’s memory and reset the volume to lower and reset it up. No good results. Anyone have good feedback on either of these items?

Welcome to the forum mercuryrsng and we wish you good times with your car.
I haven't played with the album art too much, but i don't think there's a way to show album art outside the Carplay interface. I assume that the stock audio system on the car wouldn't even know that music was playing as the music would be going via the Carplay interface. Perhaps somebody else here has played around with album art more and has some ideas.

For the ringer volume, if I remember correctly, you can adjust the volume on the spot using the volume knob on the infotainment system while the phone is ringing.
Hey

The volume knob is what I’ve been doing...but the ringer comes through pretty quickly. If I don’t catch it, it’s LOUD.

Yeah, that's the only way to change is when you are in the phone mode. If you adjust volume while you are talking on the phone it will also adjust the ringer volume. There seems to be a separate vol adj. for each mode. If you are listening to music via bluetooth that has a diff vol as well as Pandora and Spotify apps.
on the ringer volume, somebody suggested this and it worked for me, go to SETTINGS/SOUNDS/then adjust the RINGER AND ALERTS to maybe 1/4 or a little less, then slide to OFF the CHANGE WITH BUTTONS.
Regarding the album art, I learned that you can see it if you change the music source to “iPod”. Then go to the audio page and the album art should be there. You also have to turn on album art manually in the sound settings if not already done.
Thanks but I’ve tried changing the source. It doesn’t recognize my iPhone as an iPod. The screen is just blank. The album art option is turned on.
I’ve dealt with the ringer volume issue for over a year now. I had an iPhone 6S. Nothing I could adjust either on the car or the phone would fix it. I would pray no one would call me. Last week I upgraded to an iPhone XR. Voila- problem instantly solved.
