This brings up a funny anecdote I ran across a few years back. Turns out.. in F1 racing, the drivers are prohibited from driving F1 vehicles in the off season. To help keep drivers fit and in practice.... some drivers actually do competitive kart racing in the off season. And it is hilarious to see a veteran F1 driver smoking the field while driving exactly the same vehicle as everyone else (which is already classic F1). F1, being designed to give the driver with the highest skills an advantage vs other drivers in the same exact vehicle with the same power train, specs, and wheels.
