Hi all crv owners with clearly good taste. I have a 2002 second gen crv sport with 217k on it. Just noticed a noisy clutch pedal, but only when your are bringing the pedal out. It's a creaking sound. Sounds like it's coming from the pedal assembly. If the clutch is on its way out, then fair enough. But could it be simpler? Thoughts?

The creaking clutch mechanism is a common complaint. It's not an indicator of a worn clutch, however.

The spring loaded pedal return mechanism (up under the dash) is very difficult to lubricate, but give it a try. Often, the only way you can eliminate the noise is by replacing the clutch master cylinder.

On my '06 I could estimate the relative humidity by how loud the creak was. I finally had to replace the MC last fall, and that DID eliminate the noise.
