Just received a letter in the mail today about a settlement for the oil dilution problem.
I'm still at work so I didn't get to see the full thing, but doing a quick search online brought up this website: Client Settlement Site > Home

8. What does the settlement provide?
ANSWER:

All Settlement Class Members will automatically receive an extension on the Powertrain Limited Warranty that Honda provided at the original point of sale or lease of your Class Vehicle. This extension is intended to cover Oil Dilution Condition repairs (the “Warranty Extension”). Repairs will be covered under the Warranty Extension if the vehicle is within six years of the original purchase or lease date of the car, without limitation as to mileage.
The Warranty Extension is subject to the same terms and conditions as the original written Powertrain Limited Warranty issued at the original point of sale or lease, except as described in the preceding paragraph.
For owners of Settlement Class Vehicles registered in Alaska, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Honda will provide a Product Update at no cost to the vehicle owner, if the vehicle owner has not already obtained the Product Update. Honda will notify current owners or lessees of these vehicles and ask that they contact any authorized Honda dealer for an appointment to have the Product Update completed.
Additionally, each Settlement Class Member who timely submits a valid Claim Form with all required documentation plus proof of payment will receive reimbursement for qualified Towing Expenses, Oil Change Expenses, and Past Diagnostic Costs on a Settlement Class Vehicle if:
  • The towing expense was required because of a Malfunction Indicator Light, “limp mode,” or engine failure due to the Oil Dilution Condition, you provide documentation showing that a diagnostic technical code in the vehicle was related to the Oil Dilution Condition, and you provide proof of the expenses.
  • The oil change expense was incurred before you received this Notice, the oil change was made on or before 5,000 miles from the prior oil change, you have complained about the Oil Dilution Condition to Honda previously, that complaint is verified through Honda documentation, and you provide proof of the expense;
  • The diagnostic cost was related to Oil Dilution Condition issues, you have documentation showing the relation, and you provide proof of the expense;
  • The Settlement Class Member previously has not been reimbursed for the repair (for instance, by Honda, a Honda dealer, or an insurance provider); and
  • The Settlement Class Member follows each step listed in Section 8 of the Notice.
