Purchased used 2017 crv with 18,000 miles. Have checked oil and it is above the mark, but not above the Orange tip. About a week ago I took an oil extractor and removed about 3/4 quart of oil. Checked oil 2 times since and is just below top mark, so I think my issue was a overfill day before I purchased.

Anyone else do this? Any reason this would not be good to do?

Nope it was a good idea. Honda always seems to overfill them. The Mechanics seem to be too lazy to check so they just dump the full 4 Quarts in.
