Hi,
I purchased a Powerbuilt 6 litre fluid extractor from Amazon recently with the idea of doing more frequent oil changes than the recommended intervals. Unfortunately, it shipped with only a 5.8 mm diameter suction tip and I am unable to insert it far enough down the dipstick hole to contact any oil. I am curious what size of tube will fit down the hole successfully. Perhaps I can source a smaller section from a plumbing supply house and tape it to the end of the current one. What size do other owners use? Otherwise, I will have to return this item unused and purchase a different one which has different sized suction tips. Thanks for the replies.

That’s odd. It should come with a 3/16” od semi rigid black tube with metal sleeving inside similar to bicycle brake cable housing and should fit. Do you have the PELA 6000 clone? http://www.pelaproducts.com/description.htm
I guess I have a clone (made by Powerbuilt, in Taiwan). The ad on Amazon did not meantion the OD of the extractor tube but the reviews were very positive, so I thought it would work. Not sure if there are any ready made smaller tubes available or if I will have to make other arrangements.

I have the same 6L Powerbuilt 647570. Tried numerous adapters with smaller tubing, couldn't get anything to work. I ended up taking a hammer and pounding the tubing flatter. It fits now and works pretty well. You just have to be patient, it isn't fast.
Sounds a little drastic but I might have to resort to crushing the tip as you mention. It is not always easy to insert the dipstick either....it seems like the lower portion of the dipstick hole must be oval in shape and that might be why the 5.8 mm tube will not go down, even though it fits the upper few inches with no problem. Thanks.
