I've used conventional oil in my 2008 CR-V since I purchased it new. Now I am planning to switch to synthetic oil (I usually do my own oil changes). Honda recommends oil filter part # 15400‑RTA‑003; however, I still have a few older 15400-PLM-01 filters. Is it OK to use these older filters with synthetic oil?

I 'think' oil filters for synthetic oils are just able to hold more 'dirt' due to a longer suggested oil change interval, overall.
Still, on a 2000 Honda CRV, the owner's manual recommended oil change interval (Normal Service) using 5w30 conventional oil was 7500 miles or one year and the oil filter (OEM) was 15000 miles or 2yrs, I belive.
So, yes, the only reason I think some oil filters are labeled synthetic oil filters is due to there superior 'dirt' holding capacities.
